Addressing the first meeting of Diplomatic Affairs Sub-committee of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Thursday, he said that Pakistan offered best investment environment as compared to many countries of the world.
He said, in last few years Pakistani image had been improved considerably abroad that was why foreigners had started visiting Pakistan. In this connection recent visits by two British ministers could also be mentioned.
Apart from that, recent visit of British cricket team and forthcoming Indian cricket team's visit would also play a significant role in improving the image of Pakistan, he added.
The Britain diplomat said a number of foreign teams reached Pakistan to help people in earthquake-hit areas. All this happened due to improved image of the country, he pointed out.
He said, earlier incidents of kidnapping, bomb blasts, honour killing and other such issues sent negative signals about Pakistan.
He said that intellectual property right being a big issue for Pakistan was hampering foreign direct investment in the country.
KCCI Diplomatic Affairs Sub-committee Chairman, Mian Abrar Ahmed said the basic purpose of the body was to uplift the image of Pakistan to the world by interacting with foreign diplomats of different countries to promote prosperous economic relations with their countries.
He said favourable opportunities of foreign investment exist here.
KCCI President, Haroon Farooki stressed that the private sector though a deliberate policy be given representation in various national and international forums either as observers, dialogue member or full-fledged members so that they could give their views and inputs on the post.
